When a new book comes out, is it a good read?
It’s a tricky question.
We all know the first few pages are often the most interesting, and the second or third or fourth are usually the most engaging.
But the first time you read a book, there’s no way you can go back to them and change your mind.
There’s a lot of stuff going on that you can’t really digest, so it’s important to remember that.
If you’re not a fan of a particular author, try and read the whole thing as soon as possible, rather than just the first 30 pages or so.
The best books have a certain rhythm, and if you don’t like it, that’s okay.
But try to do it in as short a time as possible.
A book that’s a little long is going to feel repetitive, which is not something we want to hear from someone who’s writing about books, even if they’re trying to impress us.
So if you can remember the first couple of pages and think, ‘What is going on here?’, then you might be onto something.
If not, well, that might just be because you don´t know how to follow it.
As we say in the book industry, you never know.
