Dubai Publishing Houses to Close in January 2018
As of January 20, 2018, there are currently 3 publishing houses operating in Dubai, with the three remaining under the control of the owners of the remaining two: Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya.
Al Jazeera, which has been operating in the UAE for more than a decade, has been under the ownership of the Al Arabiyas for a little over two years now.
Al Arabia has been in Dubai for over seven years, with its first publication publication coming on January 17, 2017.
Al Sharq Al Arabi was founded in 2008 and is the only news outlet in the country, but the first print edition was published on January 10, 2016.
Al Jazeeras Al Arabian was launched in 2014 and was the first English-language Arabic-language news outlet.
Al Zayd Al Arab was launched by a group of friends in 2014.
Al Ras Al Ami was launched on February 10, 2017 and has since been the biggest news outlet by far, with over 30,000 unique visitors a month.
