Whittlesy House has come under fire for a $1bn (£900m) acquisition of a publishing rights holder in India.
Whittleseys publishers have published the books of acclaimed Indian author Shashi Tharoor, as well as the novels of renowned authors such as Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy and Salman Khan, and the TV series The Big Bang Theory.
Whittys publisher, the Indian company Kishore Mehta, bought the rights from publisher, Raj Publishing House, for $1.5bn (£738m).

This is the first book deal in India to be announced by the company, and it will allow Whittleys books to reach more readers in the country.
Whittays publisher has also launched a new product line, titled, “Whattlesey House.
Whatta”, which is a series of books which are all about the life of a Whittels author, a Whatta.
Whitys brand, which includes titles such as The Biggest Secret, is based in the UK.
The brand is owned by the Whittleys family, which is also the owners of the popular TV series, The Bigbang Theory.
